6 Years of Love!

Six years today, my husband and I had first date!  I can't believe it.

The hubby and I were involved with Campus Crusade for Christ at separate campuses and both schools  were involved in a partnership with a college in Moscow, Russia.  We signed up to go on a 6 week long summer project.

Prior to the trip, I had seen a picture of my now hubby, and knew I would need to stay away from him or I would have a mad crush on that man.  I think he felt something along those lines as well.

Somehow, the good Lord kept bringing us together on our summer project.  I am completely thankful, grateful and blessed that He did!

On our last day in Moscow, we had our first date.

He might have asked me to go an hour and a half before, giving me no time to get an outfit ready.

First year!
I remember working so hard to get those waves in my hair!

2 Years!

3 years and we went ice skating!

4 years and we went to The Fray's concert in Oklahoma.

Year 5 and celebrated on the lake in Kingwood.

What a stud!!

Clearly, I am the hubby's right hand woman...
In most of our pictures, you will find me on his right side!

So thankful for all the memories we have and can't wait to see what God has in store for us in the next 60 years!

Mid-Week Music Break

This week's video is dedicated to my niece!  The video below features Maroon 5's new song, One More Night which is the niece's favorite band.  Minka Kelly, is the leading lady and since the hubby and I watched Friday Night Lights, she's been one of my favorites.

I got to take my niece to see Maroon 5 and Train this past fall.

She was absolutely ecstatic the whole night!
I don't  know how I can ever top that birthday present.

Savannah Bee Mine!

The Savannah Bee Company is best known for their honey and it was sold all over Savannah when the hubby and I went there last month.  So we had to get some of that along with this Hand Nail Salve.

Thankfully, this caught my eye!  I am in love!

I put this on my cuticles, hands, and elbows every night and my skin has never felt this good!!

I am hooked.

Best part of all, it's under $10!

You can't beat that.

Buy it here.

I am such a believer in moisturizing as often as possible to keep my skin feeling good!  This product in organic and you won't need to use too much because a little goes pretty far.  I have been a devoted user to the product in the silver tin, but when you open it, you can hardly tell anything is missing.

PS,  The month is going strong and I have yet to purchase any clothes or accessories.

I have a couple friends that want to join me the next time I decide to do this again.

Would you be able to not shop for a month?

Thunder Up!

Okay, so I feel like this post may take a while to explain why I chose the title that I did.  The hubby is from Oklahoma and his school mascot was an Indian...  And since my dress was an Indian print and The Oklahoma City Thunder played last tonight... There you go.  That's how my random thoughts are connected.

Now you see what my husband, family and friends put up with all the time.  Random thoughts, that I too often have to explain how I end up thinking the way I do.

Bye Bye Graceful.

Last week was one of my closest coworkers' last day.  She is moving on to bigger and better things, which is hard to remember when I wanted to run upstairs to tell her a funny story about nothing in particular.  I selfishly wish we could work together forever.

And my coffee will never taste the same without my barista, but while I'm crying in the inside, I know I will see her all the time!!  We be churchin' it up together all the time!

Silent Disco

When a co-worker first told me about a Silent Disco, I thought he was kidding.  But his voice held such excitement when he gave me a thorough, description of what it entailed.

I talked two other coworkers to try it out with me.  We decided we had to see what it was all about. We wondered if it was just as thrilling as the past experiences of all, come to find out, many of our coworkers had.

As you can see, well kind of, we are sporting some headphones.  You wear these in order to listen to the music.  You have three station choices to listen to one of the three DJs spinning their hearts out.

It was so fun to be able to observe the party.  You could tell who was jamming to the same station as you.  Constantly, people would ask you, "What station are you on?"  It was a natural conversation starter.

There were a couple of artists painting in different corners of the indoor/outdoor club.

We had so much fun and I'm glad there were a group of people that we knew there because I don't know if it would be as fun as a trio.

Have you even been to a silent disco?

Nifty-Fifty

When the hubby and I were in Georgia, we decided that we would like to visit all 50 states!  We thought 2 states a year would be sufficient.  Well, we say that now, it might be harder to accomplish if/when kids enter the picture.  But, if it did happen, we could visit the 50th state on our 25th anniversary.

We are about to celebrate 2 years of marriage and have already been to 7 states together.  Separately, we have been to more, but not side by side.

I love this man so much, and it is fun to walk down memory lane and recall all of our special times we have had in each of these states.

Click Your Heels

So, I have not forgotten my blog.  I need y'all to know I have stuck to my No Shop in June!  I can't believe it.  I think my friends and the hubby are even more surprised.  I am kind of enjoying forcing myself to be creative with my closet and making new outfits with what I already own.

I love me some red shoes!  I had to wear these Toms when I picked out this black and white gingham blouse.  I was inspired by my favorite girl, Dorothy.

The red Toms were Nordstrom exclusive but are no longer available but the Toms website offers them in other colors.

One Word: Inspirational

If you haven't seen this YouTube video, you must take the time to watch it!

It is so inspiring to see what the body is capable of doing.

Arthur Boorman is an Army Vet, who served us during the Gulf War as a Paratrooper, and during that time his knees and back were badly damaged.  To get around, Arthur was required to wear knee braces and use canes.

He was told he would never walk on his own again...

I don't know if Arthur Boorman is a Christian but his story reminds me of the song by Chris Tomlin, Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone.)

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace

As a Christian, I am inspired by this man and his story.  God can change your life and take you out your darkest days.  When you are your loneliest, most depressed and uninspired times, He can change your heart and make it full.

I believe God gets the Glory of this transformation.  With Him by our side, we can accomplish more than we ever imagined.

No Shopping this June

So completely voluntarily, I decided that I would not shop in the month of June.

I cannot believe it as I type it.  I don't think the hubby can either.

Why would I choose this?  We are so close to paying off the remainder of my student loans and I have been convicted to give more.  I just thought, the easiest way to accomplish both those things, would be to stop spending.  It sounds so obvious, but I can't count how many times I go to Target to run some errands and I walk out with a new dress and some shoes.  So really, what it comes down to, is this month I also be working on my self control.  I have everything I need really, but I just love fashion.  I will let you guys know how this goes!

So for the month of June, I will be shopping my closet.

To be one the first to find out when the site officially launches, sigh up here.

I gotta say, I'm pretty curious to see what the site has to offer.

Happy Jubilee Weekend!

Queen Elizabeth is celebrating her 60th year as the queen of England this weekend.  Can you imagine having a job for that long?  This weekend is her Diamond Jubilee celebration.  The whole country will be celebrating this milestone.  How exciting!

I wanted to review some the queen's fabulous looks over the years and celebrate her most fashionable choices!

Boy Shirts Are Cool Too!

Not too long ago, the hubby and I went to the Levi's outlet because he is addicted to Levi's!  He has found his favorite brand and there is no changing his mind now.  He sure knows how to find a good thing and stick with it :)  Love that about him!

Well, while he was picking out jeans, I found this chambray in the guys section and tried it on, and fell in love.  I love the color and the fit.  I never had tried on a guy's shirt and can't say I will now shop in the men's section, but it was something nice to add to my wardrobe.
Honestly, it would take too long to get used to buttoning my shirts, the other way.

I really piled on the accessories this morning!
I had to Instagram my arm candy while at the office this morning!

Scarf/ Headband

I love this vintage scarf an old coworker gave me for Christmas!  I love it even more in my hair!

I wanted to show you how I simply turn a scarf into a way to keep your head out of your face.

The scarf doesn't have to been too thick or that long, really.

Pull the scarf under all your hair

Twist the scarf twice at the top of your head

Pull the under your hair and tie a simple knot

That's it and that's all!

It makes a huge difference with just that small piece of fabric!

Here is the few from the top!

When it gets a little warmer, I probably put my hair up in a high top bun along with the scarf.

Let me know if you try this.  I would love to see pictures!
