My Forever Valentine

This is my seventh Valentines with The Hubby and it feels like we are back in college all over again.  Once again we are spending it in separate cities.  Its okay, because he is the only man who can make me feel so loved from so many miles away.  Earlier today, I was reading one of my favorite websites, Refinery29 and there was an article about totally cute couples and I had to duplicate some this questions for my own blog.

How'd you two meet?
The Hubby and I met on a mission trip to Moscow, Russia.  We were both involved in a Christian college organization, Campus Crusade for Christ, he attended the University of Oklahoma and I attended the greatest school of all, Texas Tech :)  Our schools have a partnership in Moscow so we left for a six week adventure, returning with the most precious relationship.

What was your first impression?
Social media may have played a part in our relationship, a small part, but I did see the Hubby's picture on his Facebook page and I apparently liked what I saw.  We received a list of everyone attending the trip and I mentioned to a roommate that I knew the now Hubby would be trouble for me.  My intentions were to steer clear of the Latino and concentrate on the real reason I was there.  When I first spotted him, I was smitten and waited as long as I could to introduce myself.

What's the most romantic thing you've each done for the other person?
On one of the last nights in Moscow, the Hubby and I stayed awake until the sun came up, which is no real accomplishment.  You see, during summers in Moscow, the sun never sets completely, so really you feel like it is never night... maybe a light evening.  I digress.

One time, the Hubby came to visit me and I tried to recreate that morning.  Because I went to college in a town that is flatter than a piece of paper, blessing you with the best sunrises/sunsets everyday, this was clearly a possibility.  He came over and I searched for the perfect spot, frantically driving around and I felt like a failure because it wasn't as romantic as I pictured it would be in my head but he loved the effort.

Any tips for keeping the relationship strong?

We really are best friends.  For us, being long distance for the first four years of the relationship helped establish that.  We also hold the same values.  We went through our non-negotiables before we were together so there were no surprises there.

What are your favorite date spots?

We like to check out new restaurants and love to watch live music together.  We love Aw Shucks, Ghirmaldi's, Thai food, and any and every taco joint in DFW.  We are always looking for new places to go, so if you know of any, please let me know!

How do you deal with fighting as a couple?
We honestly don't fight often.  Currently, his job requires him to be away from home quite frequently so when he is here, we hardly have quality face to face time, which leaves no time for fighting.  When we do have disagreements we are pretty good at talking it through.  We don't let the other remain upset for a long period of time.

What do you guys love most about each other?
He lets me sing as loud as I want to in the car and I can dance a fool and he is never embarrassed by me.  But seriously, The Hubby is the most giving man I have ever met.  He loves people and drop everything to help someone.  He laughs at my jokes and makes me feel like the most special girl in the world.
