This past weekend we had the best weather in the Big D! The hubby and wanted to kick off spring the right way, at the Dallas Arboretum! They are currently celebrating Dallas Blooms until April 2nd. If you live, visiting or just driving through Dallas you should stop by. For the romantic in you, take a picnic basket with a bottle of wine and just chill out with your other half, friend or by yourself and a good book. There are plenty of spots, some quieter that others, to take a moment to enjoy the gardens and White Rock Lake.
The hubby got me a new camera for Christmas, and what better than the Arboretum to test it out. I'm not claiming to be a pro with the camera but I am trying to figure it out. I hope I do the Arboretum, the flowers and the camera some justice!
These flowers smell as beautiful as they look!
Go Tech!
I love the sailboats on White Rock!
My favorite picture I took that day!
Love him and the fact he is enjoying that kiddie bench.
Surprise the one you love or a friend with a day date here! I promise you will enjoy it!
This is my seventh Valentines with The Hubby and it feels like we are back in college all over again. Once again we are spending it in separate cities. Its okay, because he is the only man who can make me feel so loved from so many miles away. Earlier today, I was reading one of my favorite websites, Refinery29 and there was an article about totally cute couples and I had to duplicate some this questions for my own blog. How'd you two meet? The Hubby and I met on a mission trip to Moscow, Russia. We were both involved in a Christian college organization, Campus Crusade for Christ, he attended the University of Oklahoma and I attended the greatest school of all, Texas Tech :) Our schools have a partnership in Moscow so we left for a six week adventure, returning with the most precious relationship. What was your first impression? Social media may have played a part in our relationship, a small part, but I did see the Hubby's picture on his Facebook page and I apparently liked what I saw. We received a list of everyone attending the trip and I mentioned to a roommate that I knew the now Hubby would be trouble for me. My intentions were to steer clear of the Latino and concentrate on the real reason I was there. When I first spotted him, I was smitten and waited as long as I could to introduce myself.
What's the most romantic thing you've each done for the other person? On one of the last nights in Moscow, the Hubby and I stayed awake until the sun came up, which is no real accomplishment. You see, during summers in Moscow, the sun never sets completely, so really you feel like it is never night... maybe a light evening. I digress. One time, the Hubby came to visit me and I tried to recreate that morning. Because I went to college in a town that is flatter than a piece of paper, blessing you with the best sunrises/sunsets everyday, this was clearly a possibility. He came over and I searched for the perfect spot, frantically driving around and I felt like a failure because it wasn't as romantic as I pictured it would be in my head but he loved the effort.
Any tips for keeping the relationship strong? We really are best friends. For us, being long distance for the first four years of the relationship helped establish that. We also hold the same values. We went through our non-negotiables before we were together so there were no surprises there.
What are your favorite date spots?
We like to check out new restaurants and love to watch live music together. We love Aw Shucks, Ghirmaldi's, Thai food, and any and every taco joint in DFW. We are always looking for new places to go, so if you know of any, please let me know! How do you deal with fighting as a couple? We honestly don't fight often. Currently, his job requires him to be away from home quite frequently so when he is here, we hardly have quality face to face time, which leaves no time for fighting. When we do have disagreements we are pretty good at talking it through. We don't let the other remain upset for a long period of time.
What do you guys love most about each other? He lets me sing as loud as I want to in the car and I can dance a fool and he is never embarrassed by me. But seriously, The Hubby is the most giving man I have ever met. He loves people and drop everything to help someone. He laughs at my jokes and makes me feel like the most special girl in the world.
When I reflect on these past two years, I know that God really played a part in our relationship. The hubby and I make great partners, buddies and supporters of each other. God has graced me with the most patient, kind and generous man. I can't imagine spending my life with anyone else.
I'm lucky that this man puts up with me and all my craziness.
I know this man was tailor made just for me and that increases my faith and trust in God. He really does have a hand our life and we are just two little people in this huge world and yet He still knows us and loves us!

Reflections from the wedding day...
This was one of my favorite pictures.
I painted on this record, because I did that for our engagement photos.
I came up with the idea because when the hubby proposed, I was wearing a necklace with a pair of Buddy Holly glasses on it. Somehow, I linked the necklace, I was wearing with records, and thought I should paint them and they could look great in our engagements photos.
These pictures turned out exactly how I wanted them to.
Instead of a wedding cake, we opted to have a dessert table. I love sweets, so leave it to me to offer a wide variety of desserts at my wedding.
I loved my long veil, blue shoes and bouquet.
The favorite part of our wedding, and most nerve wrecking for the hubby, had to be our first dance. The hubby is not exactly a dancer and we surprised everyone with this little number.
We chose the song by Bjork called, It's Oh So Quite.
